AXELLE 'EBONY' MUNEZERO
DANCER / CHOREOGRAPHER / DIRECTOR
Axelle is a dancer, choreographer, and a leading model in the urban dance scene around the world. Born in Burundi, she has lived in Canada since her childhood. Present on the urban dance scene for more than 10 years, Axelle began, in 2011, a bachelor's degree in dance, creation profile at UQAM. From 2011 to 2014, she participated in various creation projects, notably with the RUBBERBANDance Group, Alexandra "Spicey" Landé (Ebnfloh) and Saxon Fraser (Juxtapose). She is constantly invited around the world to give workshops, notably in Japan, Russia, England, France, the United States, China, etc. Co-founder of Forêt Noire, a company that explores the limits of waacking, she also organizes the biggest waacking event in Canada for the past 7 years: "Hot Mess" as well as the 100Lux Festival. A creator at heart, she has presented her work at Tangente, Festival vue sur la relève, Festival Accès danse and Carte blanche, among others. She is an administrator for the Regroupement Québécois de la Danse. She has collaborated with artists such as Arcade Fire, Corneille, Dominique Fils-Aimé, AfrotroniX among others. Most recently, she choreographed the short program figure skating number for athletes Guillaume Cizeron and Gabriella Papadakis at the Beijing Olympics, a performance that broke a world record and won them the gold medal.
